Taking advantage of the "European Sustainable Energy Week" held a few days ago, we shared with all our team the news of the start, at last, of the works to install on the roofs of the head office of EPI INDUSTRIES family of companies in Lliçà de Vall (Barcelona), the photovoltaic park that will allow us to consume our own sustainable energy.
We know that we live in complex and uncertain times, but our commitment to the sustainability of the planet remains today more than ever.
At the beginning of fiscal 2019, we entered into a partnership with the company. Km0 Energy in order to reduce our carbon emissions through energy efficiency measures, green energy contracting and self-consumption, aligning ourselves with two of the most important Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda: SDG 7: Clean and Affordable Energy and SDG 13: Climate Action.
During the second half of the year, we had already monitored our three main work centers in Lliçà de Vall, Cornellà de Llobregat and Montcada i Reixac, enabling us to make the energy consumption of the facilities more efficient.
In November 2019, following an auction with 10 energy trading companies, we signed a contract with. Electra Caldense Energy thanks to which we began to consume 100% of renewable energy in all of our 15 work centers throughout the country.
In February of this year, 2020, we selected the company Sud Renovablesafter a bidding process with four companies in the territory; to contract the execution of our own photovoltaic park.
Covid-19 forced us to temporarily suspend the project, but a couple of weeks ago we finally started work!
With this project we realize the dream of our father, Antoni G. Cammany Bou, who in 1986, when our building in Lliçà de Vall was being designed, set as a premise that the roofs should be flat to allow the installation of photovoltaic panels.
Sustainability was, is and will be an essential value in the DNA of the EPI INDUSTRIES family of companies!
